Pico Island was not born now; it was born many years ago! Many steps have been taken on this land. What has emerged in the last nine years is the arrival of global phenomena, previously distant from one of the most beautiful and preserved ecosystems in the world: the commercial exploitation of natural resources and the incessant visitation of some public spaces – themselves an ecosystem – as repeatedly tradable goods or services, allowing countless people to photograph a unique and unforgettable place without ever having stayed there, beyond their footprint.
